From personal photo to cross-stitch artwork

From memory to handiwork

You are not simply choosing a design. You are starting with a memory.

A pet, your wedding photo, your children or that one trip you never want to forget. What is now sitting in your camera roll becomes something you make with attention — and look at with pride afterwards.

From photo to personal cross-stitch in clear steps
1

Upload your photo

Choose a photo that means something to you. A sharp image with a clear subject gives the strongest starting point.

2

Choose how you want to stitch

Pick pre-printed fabric or a classic counted pattern, then choose a size that suits your photo and the amount of detail you want.

3

Your personal kit comes together

Your design, matching thread colours and the materials you need are brought together in one personal kit.

4

Watch your photo appear

The image grows stitch by stitch. Work at your own pace and watch your memory become more recognisable as you go.

The special part

From pixels on a screen to stitches in your hands.

You do not need to draw or design the finished piece yourself. You choose the photo; then you calmly build the embroidery stitch by stitch.

Choose what suits you

Pre-printed or counted pattern?

The end result is the same. Only the way you get there is different.

Comparison of pre-printed fabric and counted pattern
Most straightforward start

Pre-printed

The symbols and colours are printed on the fabric. You can immediately see where each stitch belongs and work through the design colour by colour.

Classic method

Counted pattern

You stitch on blank fabric and work from the supplied pattern. It is the traditional cross-stitch method and asks for a little more focus.

Start with the right choices

The right photo and size make a real difference.

You do not need to be a photographer. A few simple choices help the most important details in your photo come through clearly.

Tips for choosing a suitable photo for cross-stitch

Which photo works well?

Choose a sharp, well-lit photo with a clearly visible main subject. A clean crop usually works better than a busy image filled with lots of tiny details.

Size advice for a personal cross-stitch artwork

Which size should you choose?

A larger embroidery gives a complex photo more room for detail. On the product page you can see the sizes available for the stitching method you choose.

“A moment without a screen. Just thread, a pattern and the calm rhythm of the next stitch.”

One more question?

Good to know before you begin.

Do I need embroidery experience?
No. You follow the symbols and colours of your personal design step by step. Pre-printed fabric makes placement especially clear; with a counted pattern you use the classic method and work from the supplied chart.
Which photo works best?
A sharp, well-lit photo with a clear main subject gives the strongest starting point. Use the original photo file whenever possible instead of a heavily zoomed screenshot.
What is the difference between pre-printed and counted?
With pre-printed fabric, the symbols and colours are shown on the fabric. With a counted pattern, you stitch on blank fabric and follow the supplied chart. The main difference is how you locate each stitch.
Which size should I choose?
That depends on your photo’s proportions and level of detail. A larger size provides more room for detail. On the product page you can choose from the sizes available for your kit type.
What is included in my kit?
You receive embroidery fabric, selected thread for your design, embroidery needles, your personal pattern and clear instructions to help you get started.
